NFL Betting, Pierce Calls It Quits, Jets Re-Up With Ferguson

While Netherlands Spain betting will be the big play of the weekend, that doesn’t mean that you should completely shut out other sports.  The NFL season is coming up soon, and the teams from New York have made some noise, not only with a new stadium, but with player moves.

New York Giants

NFL betting players saw the effect of how the Giants’ defense missed their emotional leader, linebacker Antonio Pierce, down the stretch last year.  Pierce missed the last seven weeks of the season with a neck injury, and the Giants proceeded to give up 30.8 points a game over that time, including 85 points in the final two games of the year I which they just gave up, which probably wouldn’t have happened as Pierce wouldn’t let them roll over like that.  Pierce decided to call it a career after nine seasons in the NFL with Washington and the Giants, and he was the lynchpin of the defense since arriving in the Big Apple.  Pierce will now join ESPN to do analysis, and with his personality, Pierce is going to be as good on television as he was in the middle of defense, possibly better.  Now, the Giants have to find a replacement going forward, but they know it’s not going to be easy to find someone to match Pierce’s intensity and team-first attitude.

New York Jets

Most college football betting players knew that D’Brickashaw Ferguson (arguably the best name in the NFL, and maybe all of sports) would succeed at the pro level.  Ferguson was an All-American lineman at Virginia, and the Jets took him with the fourth pick in the 2006 draft.  Ferguson has blossomed into a Pro Bowl lineman on arguably the best line in the entire league (the Jets had three starters on the AFC Pro Bowl team), and the Jets rewarded him for hopefully the first of many Pro Bowl seasons with a six-year, $60-million extension to protect the blind side of young quarterback Mark Sanchez.  They still have a lot to do in the offseason as fellow lineman Nick Mangold also wants a new contract, as well as cornerback Darrelle Revis, who many feel is the best one-on-one corner in the league, and coach Rex Ryan said he should have been the Defensive Player of the Year, which went to Green Bay corner Charles Woodson.  With Ferguson’s deal done, the other players may feel as though their situations will be resolved soon, and the Jets would love nothing to better than to sort everything out as they have an excellent chance to unseat New England in the AFC East, and online sports betting players know they can’t afford any distractions.
