Rangers extend dominance of Flyers, 5-2 (AP)

On an afternoon when another New York team was on the minds of many fans at Madison Square Garden, the Rangers did their best to emulate the Giants by physically wearing down Philadelphia Flyers. Price earns third shutout, Habs top Jets (AP)

Carey Price drew cheers for his stellar play while Montreal Canadiens fans mocked Scott Gomez’s dubious anniversary. Price made 23 saves for his third shutout of the season, Tomas Plekanec had a goal and an assist and Montreal ended a three-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday.

Devils top Pens for fourth straight win (AP)

Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and two assists, and the New Jersey Devils extended their winning streak to four with a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday. Anton Volchenkov, Dainius Zubrus, Zach Parise and David Clarkson also scored for the Devils, who remained perfect since the All Star break while equaling their season-best win streak.

Bruins’ Thomas quiets Caps in DC return (AP)

Gagner has 3 more points, Oilers win SO (AP)

Sam Gagner continued to rack up the points and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored the shootout winner as the Edmonton Oilers beat the league-leading Detroit Red Wings 5-4 on Saturday night. Gagner had two goals and an assist one night after his eight-point game in Edmonton’s 8-4 win over Chicago. He also scored in the shootout.

Stars continue home dominance of Wild (AP)

Kari Lehtonen watched during pregame ceremonies as the Dallas Stars honored former goalie Ed Belfour, who led the franchise to its only Stanley Cup in 1999. Lehtonen went on give his best impression of Eddie the Eagle. Lehtonen made 33 saves in regulation and overtime, then denied two of three Minnesota skaters in the shootout as the Stars beat the Wild 2-1 on Saturday night.

Surging Preds improve to 4-0-0 vs. Blues (AP)

Pekka Rinne’s stellar play in January is spilling over into February. Rinne made 42 saves, and Martin Erat had a goal and two assists to lead the Nashville Predators to a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night. The Predators have won six of seven, while the Blues have dropped three of four.

Korpikoski scores 2, Coyotes beat Sharks (AP)

Lauri Korpikoski scored two goals to lead the Phoenix Coyotes to a 5-3 win over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night. Down by two goals late, the Sharks’ Patrick Marleau scored with 32 seconds left, but the Coyotes’ Radim Vrbata scored at 19:59. With one of the worst home records in the league, Phoenix’s picked up its 11th at home this season (26 points), and only Montreal and Columbus…

Skinner lifts Hurricanes over Kings 2-1 (AP)

After Los Angeles took an early lead, the Carolina Hurricanes waited for the Kings’ travel schedule to catch up with them. Jeff Skinner scored 3:02 into the third period to lift the Hurricanes to a 2-1 win over the Kings on Saturday night. St. Louis has hat trick as Lightning win (AP)

Martin St. Louis scored three times in his 900th NHL game, Steven Stamkos added his league-leading 34th goal and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Florida Panthers 6-3 on Saturday night. St. Louis got two goals during Tampa Bay’s four-goal second, helping the Lightning take a 5-3 lead entering the third.

Canucks score late, top Avalanche in SO (AP)

Kevin Bieksa tied the game with 34.1 seconds remaining in regulation and Mason Raymond scored the lone goal in the shootout as the Vancouver Canucks rallied for a 3-2 win over the struggling Colorado Avalanche on Saturday. Raymond sent the puck through the pads of Jean-Sebastien Giguere and Roberto Luongo stopped all three shots he faced for Vancouver, which ended the Avalanche’s 10-game…

Vokoun gets third shutout, Caps top Habs (AP)

Alex Ovechkin could afford to be a bit rusty in his return to the Washington Capitals because goalie Tomas Vokoun was anything but. Vokoun made 30 saves for his third shutout of the season and Alexander Semin scored on the second of Washington’s two penalty shots in the Capitals’ 3-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.

Fleury strong as Pens slip past Bruins (AP)

Marc Andre-Fleury hardly looked like a goalie who had just finished a highly intense third period. Fleury, back in net after getting a night off, made 28 saves and Evgeni Malkin scored a power-play goal that lifted the Pittsburgh Penguins over the Boston Bruins 2-1 Saturday for their ninth win in 10 games.

Devils take 6-0 lead and hold off Flyers (AP)

Kurtis Foster scored a pair of power-play goals, and the New Jersey Devils held on for a 6-4 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon. Ilya Kovalchuk, Dainius Zubrus, Zach Parise and Alexei Ponikarovsky also had goals for the Devils, who have won three in a row. New Jersey’s special teams scored three times on the power play and once short-handed.

Jackets top Ducks in OT, end 6-game skid (AP)

Derick Brassard scored his second goal with 1:05 left in overtime, and the Columbus Blue Jackets snapped their six-game skid with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night. Jeff Carter scored the tying power-play goal in his return from a 10-game absence with a separated shoulder for the Blue Jackets, who finally won in the finale of their six-game road trip.

Reeling Blackhawks drop fifth straight (AP)

Jarome Iginla had a goal and an assist to help Calgary Flames beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 Friday night. Olli Jokinen scored in the first period and Jay Bouwmeester added a power-play goal in the second to help Calgary shake off two straight home losses. Brent Seabrook scored for Chicago, which has lost five straight, including an 8-4 loss in Edmonton the night before.

Halak earns fourth shutout in 7 starts (AP)

A few days in the sun proved to be all St. Louis goalie Jaroslav Halak needed. Halak stopped 22 shots and Jamie Langenbrunner scored in the second period to lead the Blues to a 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Friday night. Fresh off a four-day vacation in Jamaica with his girlfriend, Halak stopped Justin Williams from point-blank range with just over five minutes left in the third period to…

Bergenheim’s goal gets Panthers by Jets (AP)

Florida’s Kris Versteeg didn’t feel well going into Friday’s game. He felt much better afterward. Sean Bergenheim scored a go-ahead goal in the second period and the Florida Panthers beat the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 Friday night. Versteeg also scored a goal for Florida, while Scott Clemmensen stopped 20 shots.

Eaton’s first goal since ‘09 lifts Isles (AP)

Mark Eaton scored 2:35 into overtime in his 600th NHL game to give the New York Islanders a 2-1 win over the Ottawa Senators on Friday night. Eaton took a pass from Milan Jurcina and put the puck into an open right side for his 24th NHL goal — his first since Nov. 28, 2009. Matt Martin scored the tying goal in the third and Evgeni Nabokov made 23 saves for New York, which is on a 5-1-1 run.

Miller eyes Hasek’s Sabres wins record (AP)

Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller doesn’t need to be reminded he’s one career win from breaking Dominik Hasek’s team record. What Miller won’t do is guess when win No. 235 might come. He’s “just hoping” to get it. Miller has reason to be cautious during a season in which little’s gone right for him or his team.
