Seahawks trade CB Wilson to Ravens (AP)

The Seattle Seahawks have traded starting cornerback Josh Wilson to the Baltimore Ravens for a conditional 2011 draft pick. The move came just as the Seahawks were wrapping up practice on Tuesday, a practice that Wilson participated in. Wilson spent his first three seasons with the Seahawks after being a second-round pick out of Maryland in 2007.

Oilers G Khabibulin gets 30 days in jail (AP)

Edmonton Oilers goalie Nikolai Khabibulin of Russia has been sentenced to 30 days in jail stemming from his Arizona drunken-driving conviction. The four-time All-Star received the sentence Tuesday in Scottsdale City Court. He also was fined $5,100 and must enroll in an alcohol-treatment program. Lyle Overbay does not have a concussion but still ailing

Lyle Overbay was out of the lineup for the fourth straight game Tuesday night because of post-concussion symptoms. He did resume on-field work before Toronto played at Tampa Bay and hopes to play again in the next few days.

Doctors tell Morneau to stay at home (AP)

Justin Morneau was absent at Target Field when his Minnesota Twins returned home to open a three-game series against Detroit, and he may be out for a while as recovers from a concussion that happened nearly two months ago. Doctors told Morneau to stay at home until at least Friday, manager Ron Gardenhire said Tuesday.

Buccaneers release unproductive RB Ward (AP)

Derrick Ward’s unproductive stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is over. The seventh-year running back was released Tuesday when the team trimmed the roster to 75 players. Receiver Terrence Nunn was waived, and linebacker Jon Alston was placed on injured reserve to get down to the limit for the final preseason game.

The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed unrestricted free agent forward Matt Ellis to a one-year contract. A gritty fourth-line player, Ellis rejoins the team for a third season after setting career-highs with 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) and 72 games played last year. The signing was announced by the team as Ellis celebrated his 29th birthday on Tuesday.
