Rookie Louis Delmas Arranges Furniture After Detroit Loss

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

I want a guy like this on my team.  Louis Delmas. Remember that name. He has a future in Pro Football.  Why? Because he plays like winning means something.

In a game that will be “Just another loss,” for a struggling team, Delmas made a fantastic interception at the goal line and ran it 100 yards to his own end zone.

Playing with passion and intensity, he sparked his team back to life.  The Lions went on to score 17 unanswered points.

The 10 Most Colorful Baseball Slang Terms: Time for a Little Chin Music

Friday, December 18th, 2009

The lore of baseball is certainly part of the game’s appeal. But the language of baseball is rich in color, humor and insight into the men who play this great game.

So, IMHO, the 10 most colorful baseball terms.

1. Okay, let’s start with chin music.
It’s a high, inside pitch used to “brush back” the batter from “crowding” the plate. It’s also called high heat and a purpose pitch, the purpose of which is to move the batter off the plate.

Cheerleaders Advise Belichick

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Just when you thought Cheerleaders at the pro level was a total waste, you find out that the girls are giving much needed advice that really does influence the game.  Apparently Bill Belichick was in need of  some good “Strategery” last week.

The crisis came in the Third quarter when the Panthers were a short gain away from a first down.  Belichick, got inspired by the simple wisdom of the girls behind him.

Did Alabama Surprise You?
Nick Saban proves he IS a man, and Tebow manages to shave a couple million OFF of his first NFL contract.

Nick Saban showed he was capable of transforming a dismal school program into a top contender in just three short years.  Hey Nick, how would you feel about moving to the Northwest?  The clash of the undefeated turns out to be what many consider on Upset and now Alabama is on the way to Pasadena and a shot at the BCS title.

If you were wondering just how tough the SEC is the 32 to 13 trouncing of the top ranked, Tim Tebow led Gators, put away all doubts.  Alabama dominated the game as if it was their destiny and the would not buy into the hype surrounding the much touted Gators.

Ruskell Done Ruining Seattle Seahawks

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Tim Ruskell given the boot just weeks before his contract ends like somehow his departure will save the team.  I’m not sayin’ he should stay  but at this point it’s like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.  Not really gonna help much.

After twenty years as a scout Ruskell will never be remembered for it.  Reverse Engineering might fit.  Letting a Pro Bowl talent like Steve Hutchinson go to free agency, that’s gonna leave a mark.

I’m thinking he should have spent a few seasons in the Fantasy League and maybe the idea of gathering talent would have sunk in.

Seattle Seahawks ownership has done it again. They let Ruskell come in before the 2005 season and let him be the committee of one to reshape the team.  He makes a smart move drafting Lofa Tatupu and suddenly he’s a genius.

SEC Football | Why The National Champion Will Be Crowned This Saturday in Atlanta

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

SEC bias coming your way via Charleston, SC – And Yes we Southerners can be a bit Cocky when it comes to our Football.

Cocky

So why is SEC football the best College Football has to offer?

Florida v. Alabama, two great teams that have gone undefeated throughout the season and more specifically undefeated in SEC conference play.  The SEC offers up a grueling cycle of games that pits a team against known powerhouses that are Florida (It’s anti Christian to Hate Tebow), Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee & Auburn.  Even your “Second Tier” teams like South Carolina, Ole Miss, Miss State and even Kentucky have amazing athletes and would be able to contend, if not win, in any other college football conference.

Don’t let records fool you because just about any team in the SEC can rise up and beat another on any given Saturday. Let’s not forget an average Ole Miss team is the last team to beat Florida (Almost 2 years ago).  Just last week two 6-5 teams (now 7-5) Georgia and South Carolina Beat their ACC rivals and ACC Championship game foes Georgia Tech & Clemson. 30-24 & 34-17 respectively.

The Universe is Out Of Kilter Without Baseball

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

The New York Yankees closed out the 2009 baseball season by beating the great Philadelphia Phillies (even though they have the dumbest mascot in all of baseball – the Phillies Fanatic) and ever since, the universe has shifted off its axis ever so slightly.

This was the Yankees first World Series win since 2000 so it was a long time coming, but Derek, A-rod, AJ, Andy and CC pulled it off with, what was in essence, a three-man pitching rotation. This morning, the baseball diamonds are quiet, football, basketball and hockey seasons are upon us. There’s sadness in the baseball world when the season comes to an end, and the universe shifts slightly.

And the universe won’t right itself until spring training camps open in early February. It seems so far away, here in the beginning of December, with the holidays fast approaching. Some things are missing from life of baseball fans everywhere:

What is a Fan?

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Actually it is short for fanatic… Grown men, large men stripped naked and painted like primal warriors as if their participation will have some outcome on the game.
